Midway University Announces Honorees for 11th Annual Spotlight Awards

Midway, KY (03/04/2025) — Midway University is proud to announce its annual Spotlight Awards, an event dedicated to honoring individuals who have made significant contributions in their industry and have positively impacted the community.

This year's Spotlight Awards will highlight the 60th anniversary of Midway University's Nursing Program, celebrating its rich history and the many lives our nursing graduates have touched.

The evening will feature the presentation of two distinguished awards: the Pinkerton Vision Award and the Midway University Legacy Award.

2025 Pinkerton Vision Award Honoree: Lisa Lourie The Pinkerton Vision Award will be presented to Lisa Lourie, the owner and operator of Spy Coast Farm, a world-class equestrian facility that spans three states. Lisa has made a profound impact in the equestrian world through her commitment to performance horse breeding, training, and rehabilitation.

With a background in nursing and healthcare, Lisa's journey into the equestrian world began when she sought to bond with her daughter through riding lessons. Since then, she has transformed her passion into a thriving business while mentoring the next generation of equestrians, particularly young women. Lisa's dedication to excellence and her innovative approach to the equestrian industry exemplify the values celebrated by the Pinkerton Vision Award.

2025 Midway University Legacy Award Honoree: Dr. Constantine 'Deno' Curris The Legacy Award will honor Dr. Constantine 'Deno' Curris, a prominent figure in higher education with a deep connection to Midway University that spans six decades. Dr. Curris began his career at Midway Junior College in 1965 and played a vital role in establishing the nursing program. His leadership and commitment to academic integrity have left an indelible mark on the institution.

Dr. Curris has held several prestigious positions in academia, including president at Murray State University, the University of Northern Iowa, and Clemson University. His advocacy for public higher education and dedication to student success have made him a respected leader in the field.

Event Details

The Spotlight Awards ceremony not only recognizes these remarkable individuals but also serves as a fundraiser to support ongoing academic programming and student scholarships at Midway University. The event will feature a live auction with exciting packages and experiences, along with an online raffle. The event will take place in the McManis Student Center at Midway University on Thursday, May 22, 2025, beginning with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and award presentations.
