Midway University Announces Summer Academy Academic Camps
Midway, KY (01/27/2025) — Midway University is excited to announce the launch of its Summer Academy. The program is an immersive, on-campus, five-day, four-night, experience designed to educate rising juniors and seniors, as well as admitted and prospective Fall 2025 students. The camp will run from June 1-5, 2025 (Sunday afternoon arrival; Thursday afternoon departure). This program offers a unique opportunity to explore potential career pathways and get a feel for college life at Midway University.
"The Summer Academy is a chance for high school students to not only explore career topics that are of interest to them, but also a chance to spend a week on a college campus. This experience by itself is important in preparing students for what to expect as they transition to college." said Dr. Carrie Christensen, Assistant Vice President, Research and Training. This exclusive opportunity offers nine different engaging themes for students to select. Students are encouraged to apply early, as spots are limited.
Each different session provides students with hands-on learning experiences. Participants will select from the following program options:
Eagle Scholar Experience: Designed exclusively for incoming Fall 2025 Midway students. This summer bridge program helps first-year students prepare for academic success, build connections with peers, and transition seamlessly into college life.
Forensic Science Experience - Can You Solve the Crime?: Students will explore the methods and techniques used in real-life criminal investigations. Dive into crime scene investigations, fingerprint analysis, DNA profiling, and forensic chemistry.
The Midway Equine Experience: This program introduces participants to many different fields within Midway's Equine Studies Program. Students will gain practical experience with horses, and explore science, rehabilitation, and management.
Game Jam Experience: This session explores the fundamentals of game design. Participants will create their own game prototype. Students will earn a better understanding of how game design relates to artistic, writing, and coding skills.
Future Nurses Experience: Students will explore career pathways and potential specializations in nursing through field trips, skills labs, and mentoring. All students selected for this session will receive a scholarship to cover the cost of the program provided by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.
Social Media Marketing Experience: This program will teach students how to master digital campaigns, understand viral content strategies, and emerging trends. Their creativity will be utilized by crafting their own original content and designing their very own social media campaign.
Future Leaders Experience - Shaping Tomorrow's Leaders Today: Participants will learn about what is needed to be successful in the 21st century. Students will develop essential leadership skills through innovative learning and self-exploration.

The session will focus on problem solving skills that can be utilized through careers in forensic science, criminology, business, biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematical modeling, sports analytics, and more.
