Midway University Demonstrates Significant Economic Impact in the Region

Midway, KY (02/11/2025) — Midway University has a profound economic footprint in Kentucky, contributing more than $36.5 million annually to the state's economy. A recent report from the Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities (AIKCU) highlights the substantial economic contributions of Midway University to Woodford County, the region, and the state. This report underscores the vital role that independent higher education institutions play in bolstering the local economy, creating jobs, and enhancing community development.

This figure encompasses various aspects, including direct spending by the university, student expenditures, and the ripple effects of this spending across the community.

The University has shown significant enrollment growth in the past nine years with total enrollment at the Fall 2024 census of 2,003 students. This includes traditional undergraduate students, evening and online undergraduate students, graduate students, and dual credit high school students. Over this same period, the University has invested more than $19 million in construction and renovation projects on campus all geared towards improving the student's experience by enhancing classrooms, student housing, and the dining facility, as well as expanding athletic facilities. The University is proud that it made these campus improvements without incurring any new debt, all the while lowering its overall debt, with a focus on keeping tuition affordable.

The AIKCU report also reveals that Midway University supports approximately 200 jobs within the local economy. These positions range from faculty and administrative staff to support services, contributing to a stable employment base for the community.
