Fall Enrollment at Midway University Surpasses 2,000

Midway, KY (09/17/2024) — Midway University's enrollment has grown for a ninth consecutive year. The overall fall enrollment has reached 2,003 students, with the largest growth segment in the University's evening/online undergraduate programs.

"The jump in our evening/online undergraduate enrollment is a direct result of the addition of an online/hybrid option for our Associate Degree in Nursing program," said Dr. John P. Marsden, President, Midway University. "This offering now allows students from areas farther from campus to earn their degree at Midway and accommodates those who need the convenience and flexibility that the online platform provides."

Despite the ongoing challenges with the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), the University welcomed 285 new traditional undergraduate students. With several years of record growth, campus housing is at capacity.

"Adding housing for our students continues to be a priority, as well as continuing with campus improvements," said Marsden. Midway University is in the middle of a three-phase project to address housing. The first phase was completed last year when the top floor of the existing library was renovated and converted into housing. The second phase includes fundraising for a new library, with construction to begin in 2025. The final phase includes the full renovation of the first and lower floors of the existing library to add more housing and student study space.

In addition, Piper Dining Hall was renovated and upgrades to the McManis Student Center conference room, lounge, and bathrooms were completed over the summer. An on-campus turf field and track were recently constructed allowing multiple teams to use the field for practice and competition this fall. Lights have been added to the field to give teams additional time for practice and game time flexibility and will benefit all students who use the track in the mornings and evenings.

"All of our projects to enhance the campus, add housing, and construct new facilities have been completed without incurring any new debt," said Marsden. "While making these upgrades we also have been careful to keep our tuition low and remain one of the most affordable private university choices in Kentucky."
