Midway University, KCTCS sign student transfer agreement

Midway, KY (07/03/2024) — A new agreement between Midway University and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System will help more KCTCS transfer students continue their education through a seamless and supportive transition to Midway University. The partnership was announced yesterday during a signing ceremony at the university.

The agreement ensures that both institutions will work together to maximize the application and acceptance of transfer credit and will also provide the essential support services for student success.

"By streamlining the application and maximizing acceptance of transfer credit, this agreement shows Midway and KCTCS as clear partners who offer paths for students to expand their skill sets and career opportunities through thoughtfully designed curriculum and instruction," said Dr. Timothy Campbell, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Midway University.

The university will offer two different transfer scholarships to KCTCS students. The renewable $1,000 scholarship is available to students who graduated with any associate degree and plan to enter one of Midway's evening or online programs.

The second transfer scholarship is based on college GPA and is for students admitted to an on-campus undergraduate program.

All application fees will be waived except for students using the international student application.

In other developments, the university announced a business advantage program agreement to provide a 15% reduction in tuition to KCTCS employees, their spouses and dependents for evening and online undergraduate programs and graduate programs, except for the master's of education. The discount is not applicable for the traditional daytime program.

"We're so very excited to partner with Midway University on these two important initiatives, both of which will accelerate educational attainment and workforce preparation throughout the commonwealth," said Reneau Waggoner, KCTCS acting provost and vice president. "Through collaborative, statewide efforts such as these, more students across Kentucky will have greater opportunities to fulfill their career goals and enjoy better lives for themselves and their families."
