Midway University Launches Online Master of Science in Nursing Forensics Program

First of its Kind in Kentucky

Midway, KY (07/27/2026) — With a focus to address ongoing nursing shortages, Midway University is offering a specialized program in the profession with its new online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Forensics program.

Graduates will be prepared for careers in emergency departments, sexual assault response programs, correctional healthcare, medical examiner and coroner offices, child and elder abuse investigation teams, disaster response, and community-based forensic healthcare settings.

"We have been producing quality nurses for more than 60 years now," said Dr. John Marsden, President of Midway University. "We are not just launching a first-of-its-kind program in Kentucky; we are strengthening our reputation by investing in the state's needs to support stronger community partnerships and better patient outcomes."

"Our intention is to show that caring compassion can meet advocacy with nurses who learn to help heal, protect, and give a voice to those who need it most," said Dr. Tim Campbell, Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Dr. Anne Sahingoz, Dean of the School of Health Sciences, says forensic nursing helps strengthen coordinated response to trauma.

"It is critically important for there to be a greater presence of trauma-informed care in both rural and urban communities," said Dr. Sahingoz. "This program will help build that workforce."
