Midway University Receives a $2 Million Anonymous Gift for New Library Construction Project
Midway, KY (03/25/2025) — Midway University is thrilled to announce a $2 million gift from an anonymous donor in support of its new library campaign. This remarkable contribution significantly advances the University's fundraising efforts, bringing the total raised to $9.25 million-just $750,000 shy of the $10 million goal.
The funds will support the construction of the new James A. & Martha R. Brown Library, a modern space designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and academic success. The project will include expanded group study areas, a cafe, library services, an esports arena, classrooms, computer labs, and additional faculty offices, creating a dynamic hub for students, faculty, and the community.
"We are incredibly grateful for this anonymous donor's generosity and belief in our vision," said Dr. John P. Marsden, President of Midway University. "This gift brings us within reach of our fundraising goal and ensures that this project will get underway this summer. We plan to have the building completed by December 2026. Following construction of a new library, the existing library will be renovated to provide additional housing."
In 2023, the second floor of the Little Memorial Library was converted to housing to accommodate the growth of the student population. Library Hall, as it is now called, has 43 beds. When the building is completely renovated, it will more than double the capacity.
The Library Campaign has already received support from individuals, foundations, and organizations, including the naming gift from the James A. & Martha R. Brown Foundation. With the project nearing full funding, the University encourages alumni, friends, and supporters to help close the final gap.
