Midway University Receives Education Excellence Award
Midway, KY (01/20/2023) — On Wednesday Midway University, which serves over 1900 students, was presented with the Education Excellence Award by the Woodford County Chamber of Commerce at their Awards Luncheon. This award recognizes the important impact the University has made in Woodford County and the surrounding region.
"We are honored to be recognized among the outstanding businesses in Woodford County," said Dr. John P. Marsden, President, Midway University. "Having just celebrated our 175th anniversary, our importance as an educational institution and connection to the community is as strong as ever. The Board of Trustees, faculty and staff have all contributed to the success of the University."
Marsden noted that the greatest transformation of the University has happened in the last decade. In 2015, Midway College transitioned to university status to reflect the breadth of its educational offerings including graduate programs. In 2016, Midway University admitted men into its traditional daytime programs and to its residential campus for the first time in its history. The University has greatly expanded its academic offerings and athletics, and has completed numerous building and campus renovation projects, all without incurring any new debt. At the same time, the institution has held tuition rates to remain one of the most affordable private universities in the state. All of these factors have contributed to seven consecutive years of enrollment growth.
President Marsden accepted the award on behalf of the University and the Board of Trustees at the luncheon held in Versailles on Wednesday, January 18.
